I'm very disapointed as well because you don't know how to look.

I don't really understand what you mean by how do I look. But when I ask here. I got answer like this: When 3.4.1 is released 3.4.0 become stable. Don't give me wrong but I don't see it in standard Arch repository.  You and may be others thinks that I'm just another stupid user because I act like one. But over the years I have been using linux I saw many of distributions and projects that get down because of people like you who just talk and don't doing any income for project itself. Then next time before you answer think twice that you may be talking to person who is twice of your age and have even some experience. When developers say it's gonna be done by some date it should be done! That's how it's use to work!

Hold on there, Arch is a community driven project, no one gets paid to do this stuff, hence the "Dev's" have other things they normally do, and do this to help the community in their spare time. wonder specifically stated that it's going up on the weekend just a couple of responses above yours, so it should come up in the weekend. Also I'm pretty sure you've misunderstood wonder, he said that 3.4.1 will be the one making it up on to the stable repos, since 3.4.0 was quite buggy.

Sorry to moderators, just got a little angry at the ungrateful response.

Well, you didn't get me right, I didn't said anything about your appearance. I just said about looking for what version of gnome we have in testing.
As I said multiple times, gnome 3.4.x will move in [extra] when 3.4.1 is released. Now that 3.4.1 is released and already in [testing] i will move 3.4.1 in [extra] in weekend.

you just have to understand that real life is more important than packaging. we are not paid to do anything in arch, we are donating our free time for the community.
if you want to have it in the day of the announcement in "standard" repos, then send me a paycheck and it will be done.

+1

I want to add that I like the fact that Arch-developers wait till some packages (gnome in this matter) is more stable. smile
I like bleeding-edge software, but if things are too unstable than why would you have it in the main repository. (extra)

@camp: If you had taking a look at how Arch is build, than you would already see that gnome 3.4.1 is already available in the testing repo.

Thanks wonder btw. - does user-theme extension work now on Gnome 3.4?

@beta990 don't use the packaged user-theme version. Use the extension straight from extensions.gnome.org

Well. I'm not.

  • 3.4.1 is a stable release of Gnome, good

  • 3.4.1 will become stable for Arch, after work is done (checking release and dependencies, moving to testing repo, testing release, and if everything is okay -> moving to stable repo). Doing "work" needs time! Doing "good work" can take even more time!

  • Arch is a community distribution. It is your right to use Arch. It is your right & honor to improve Arch. It is not your right to blame others (developers), for improving Arch.

  • 3.4 is a feature release, not an security release, is als not a bugfix-release (stability) in this case. Order of importance --> Security > Stability > Feature

  • 3.2 works and I don't know any mission-critical bug, staying at 3.2 is save

Well. Arch is a upstream distribution and Gnome 3.4 is stable. We will receive it, as soon as all important things are done.

Now you can make a transfer on the developers current-account. Or buy a RHEL, SLES or Ubuntu LTS. You can also help, like using testing-repo on a second machine and report bugs.
Of course you can also buy Windows[TM] or MacOS[TM] or Solaris[TM].

Re: gnome 3.4beta2 in gnome-unstable

Hey all,

I don't see anyone else currently mentioning this issue. So I may have missed it revisiting pages.

When we did the changes to clutter, networkmanger and such I could finally open system settings without is crashing. Network settings is fine. I am still having issues with Online Accounts (which would effect getting contacts like I know has been mentioned the past couple days.) I also can not change user account information in System Settings. I don't seem to notice any other problems with anything else.

To me network manager is not needed, it is compiled as a dependency for Gnome 3.4 shell. I just place all my network settings in /etc/rc.conf

Any help would be appreciated. It seems overall in this thread on the fore front unless Wonder, FalconIndy or Heftig chime in that this release has had a few bumps but nothing super serious.

Re: gnome 3.4beta2 in gnome-unstable

Gnome still crashes for me upon next login if I enable the onscreen keyboard (in 3.4.1). Finally was annoyed enough that I replaced my gnome install on my tablet with dwm tongue. But can anyone else reproduce this issue?

Have you click on Unlock in the top right corner of the window?

gnome-shell doesn't have an option to disable networkmanager integration. It just needs it.

Damn, can't wait for 3.4.1 to finally move to [extra]! tongue

But cudos to wonder for not pushing a buggy release just for its own sake.

It's wise decision making like this that allows archlinux to be both bleeding edge and fairly stable, thus, making it the best distro I've ever experienced.

Again, wonder, let me thank you for your great work and be assured that its really appreciated! smile

Wonder when I open the System Settings unit the User Accounts is in the bottom right corner. However, as I try to click on it nothing happens, The icon doesn't even seem to register that it was clicked. As far as OnlineAccounts I can also open that dialog. The Windows Live box will open when pressing add but there are not any options in the box. The part closes without incident. However, on the Google option the whole dialog box freezes with no action and no choices. I have to force close it to stop the process.

@OrangeRoot1000 what's your login method into gnome and you use systemd or do you have it installed without using it?

extra/libsystemd 44-5 [installed]
    systemd client libraries

As far as login it is through /etc/inittab and ~.xinitrc with xinit.

i believe that's the problem. If i understand well, you are automatically logged via inittab and using startx?

paste ~/.xinitrc and try to log manually after login via tty and launching startx.

That is correct sir. I come in on RunLevel 3 and startx after logging in to use the Xorg platform if needed.

Hey, wonder:

I've investigated about the SIGILL in epiphany. I think it's libwebkit3's fault since gnome-online-accounts (which uses it) crashes as well.

Re: gnome 3.4beta2 in gnome-unstable

@wonder

Okay I deleted the dbus-launch option but there still does not appear to be any change. Online Accounts and User Accounts are still not working properly. OA shows Windows Live but no options; Google locks all of OA and I have to force quit. UserAccounts Icon just sits with no highlighting at all when clicked one or two times.
