Earphones + Mic one device, but two slots

Hi,
I have two ports - one for a mic and one for earphones on my laptop - Lenovo Z560. However, my mic is part of my earphones and there is only one end to it and I therefore cannot attach it to both ports simultaneously. How do I go about configuring my laptop to record through this mic?

Since your ports aren't the unified style, you're gonna need a cheapo TRRS->2xTRS adapter. That'll branch that one lead to two and let you plug it into your ports as normal. Little inconvienient, but it'll work.
