Weather scripts, part 3

Moderator comment.  The scripts are fine by me and are welcome here.

I fully understand the concern about the Signal to Noise ratio of these boards and I do think we should jealously guard the quality of the forums.  Jason may well be correct about attracting flotsam that has nothing to do with Arch and the Arch way.

We will deal with that at the appropriate time in the appropriate manner.

b) If 1 out of a 100 of this hoard of people coming from UF converted to Arch, wouldn't it be a gain? Think about it.

Your question rests on the assumption that more is always better...

Arch needs to find new users; it's the best distro out there; keeping it closed like a restricted club won't help it.
Ubuntu was once, but now it's not; when I converted from Ubuntu to Arch I learnt more in a week than I had learnt with Ubuntu in years.
There are a lot of talents in the "orange" side that are lost out there - why not take them here and "civilize" them?

I promise to deal with every stupid question that appears in this thread by my own; you're talking with a veteran of Ubuntu forums here - I can take everything...

Re: Weather scripts, part 3

As the ubuntu fool that innocently created this off topic moment - TeoBigusDickus may have a point, my question was related to a 512Mb Ram laptop my mum would find useful to have in her bedroom to watch iplayer, I've rescued it from the bottom of the drawer in which it was languishing, removed windows, installed a lightweight OS suitable for her (Mint LXDE) and have just got a bit carried away making it look pretty without overloading the CPU and RAM.  As such. in the course of my research into what OS I should install for her, I came across many opinions praising the elegance of Arch.  It's made me seriously think about replacing the OS of my laptop (v. old) and PC (old but I built it myself so the specs are still pretty good).

As an aside, TeoBigusDickus, (or as we've gone a bit off topic maybe that should be "As an unaside") - I've been Googling like crazy to try to find locations that do have an RSS feed from Accuweather; I put london into your acc_rss and it worked fine so you were absolutely correct with your diagnosis; do you know how I could find this out?  i.e. which locations do Accuweather provide an RSS feed for?

Reason for edit: got TeoBigusDickus' name wrong, twice!

If anyone needs any extra info ... please ask!

Since script 1c is for anywhere, I went to accuweather and put in "Gloucester" as the city, and the results are these. Which GLOUCESTER are you looking for?

Gloucester, Massachusetts (01930)
Gloucester, Virginia (23061)
Gloucester, North Carolina (28528)
Gloucester, United Kingdom (Gloucestershire)
Gloucester, Canada (Ontario)
Gloucester, Papua New Guinea (West New Britain)
Gloucester, Australia (Queensland)
Gloucester, Australia (New South Wales), or
Gloucester, Sierra Leone (Western Area)

Note: Simple trick with most weather sites, use just a city name and they will give you a list of every city they have in their database with that name.  Some weather sites like weather·com (I chose Canada for that link) work with countries as well.  Accuweather does not work with countries unfortunately.
