Lenovo x220 Wlan LED

Hey guys,

I'm using my x220 now for about 1 year. But I can't remember, that the wlan led under the display are on. Since there was never a windows running on it, I can't tell if it will work there. I heard from a lot of people around the internet, that it works for them even with linux. In my x220 is a `Intel Corporation Centrino Advanced-N 6205 (rev 34)` using the `iwlwifi` module. I tried to set the `led_mode` on the module with all possible modes, but the little led don't light up.

Does anyone experience the same problem, or is there maybe a hardware defect in my machine?

Re: Lenovo x220 Wlan LED

try put this

options iwlwifi led_mode=1

in yours

/etc/modprobe.d/modprobe.conf

it's working with my x201i

Re: Lenovo x220 Wlan LED

Already tried this, don't work. Neither `led_mode=1` nor `led_mode=2`.

Re: Lenovo x220 Wlan LED

Someome with x220 should test let_mode=1, then you'll know if your machine is broken or not.

Re: Lenovo x220 Wlan LED

Hi, I've got an x220 with exact this Intel Corporation Centrino Advanced-N 6205 (rev 34) card and my wifi led is working. I never had to turn it on manually or do some tricks to make it work.
Tell me if I can help you with comparing configurations or something.

Re: Lenovo x220 Wlan LED

So, it seems I'm right with the hardware defect.

@op: But before I contact the support, I would like to compare the output of `sudo lspci -v`

Re: Lenovo x220 Wlan LED

I've just installed Arch on my X220. LED will properly light up using netcfg, but not when the card itself is activated, but when I make a connection (which is pretty handy).

Re: Lenovo x220 Wlan LED

I also have an X220.  Works fine here.  You do have the little wireless switch (under the ExpressCard slot) turned on (showing green) I hope?

It always looked to me as if the light was controlled by the network card, because i have the opposite behaviour.
When i activate the network card the light goes on, no matter wether i have a connection or not.
However i use networkmanager and the fn keys to turn on/off the network card.
