Hi,
it seems to me that after latest Arch updates my HP laptop's fans are a bit more noisy. Just to check it I start looking for fan speed info and i discovered that in
/sys/class/hwmon/hwmon0/device/
the expected file fan1_input doesn't exist and I cannot find it all over the system.

Hi alinares,
finally I discovered that in the BIOS exists a parameter like "always on fans"... I turned it off and the fans now are working fine.
Tell me if you don't find it so I'll restart my PC looking for the correct parameter name.

Didn't work for me. The fans are not at max speed, but still running... and making noise even when the laptop is idle. The cpu temp is 52°C.

I have a hp dv6t with switchable graphics (i7 integrated graphics + Radeon). When I first got the laptop, I had problems with several Linux distros where the fans were going at full blast and the laptop got really hot. The problem is that AMD switchable graphics haven't really been supported in Linux. The solution I found was to disable the Radeon card completely, and just run off of the Intel integrated graphics. Upon disabling the Radeon card, the fans stopped blowing like a hair dryer, the laptop wasn't as hot, and the battery life increase substantially.

Also, you might consider trying out some kernel parameters to downclock your intel integrated graphics:
