Why are less packages installed with Pidgin?

Hi all

On one laptop I have done an update to GNOME 3.4 which caused some probelems. Independent from that I wanted to install pidgin on this laptop and another one which has not been updated. On GNOME 3.4 laptop, only 2 packages are offered to be installed.

libpurple-2.10.3-2 pidgin-2.10.3-2

On the other laptop far more packages are shown to be installed:

faac-1.28-3  farstream-0.1.2-1  gstreamer0.10-bad-0.10.23-1  gstreamer0.10-bad-plugins-0.10.23-1 gstreamer0.10-ffmpeg-0.10.13-1  gstreamer0.10-good-0.10.31-1  gtkspell-2.0.16-2  ladspa-1.13-3 libcdaudio-0.99.12-6  libdc1394-2.1.3-2  libdv-1.0.0-4  libgme-0.6.0-2  libidn-1.24-1  liblrdf-0.4.0-9 libmms-0.6.2-1  libmp4v2-1.9.1-2  libnice-0.1.2-1  libofa-0.9.3-4  libpurple-2.10.3-2  libraw1394-2.0.7-2 libvdpau-0.4.1-2  libxss-1.2.2-1  mjpegtools-2.0.0-2  musicbrainz-2.1.5-5  scrnsaverproto-1.2.2-1soundtouch-1.6.0-1  pidgin-2.10.3-2

Why? The installations were in sync and I remember that also on the first laptop that many packages were installed.

Best regards
Martin

Edit: same with cheese!

This may not be the case but -- Is it possible that all those extra packages are already installed and up-to-date on the original laptop?

Re: Why are less packages installed with Pidgin?

Do

$ pactree pidgin

on both the systems, and compare the output. I don't think the output will be different.

As geeksunny said, most likely other packages have already been installed.
