Cannot mount USB3 Enclosure

Hi all,
I've a strange problem: I've just bought a an usb 2.0/3.0 hdd enclosure to host my 150 GB 2.5'' HDD, but when I plug it in my usb2.0 ports udev doesn't recognise it:

dmesg reports:

[ 4008.212958] usb 2-1.3: new high-speed USB device number 12 using ehci_hcd

the strange thing is that my virtualbox XP VM recognise and mounts it without problems....

any suggestion?
