Hi guys,
after second fresh installation of arch from net, i'm following the post installation when i wanted to install the open drivers. I have an ati on netbook (6250).
Did:
# pacman -S xf86-video-ati
Followed the help for early kms start and now when restart:
Booting the kernel.
[ 1.147564] kernel panic - not syncing: VFS: unable to mount root fs on unknown-block(0,0)
[ 1.147684] Pid: 1, comm: swapper/0 Not tainted 3.3.3-1-ARCH #1
many many many many numbers and errors.
Can i do something to fix this? (Yet tryed to add: nomodeset and radeon.modeset=0 same error)
Thanks,
Gabriele.
edit: stock kernel linux, i added radeon in MODULES and regenerated initramfs.

I guess you've made changes to /etc/mkinitcpio.conf and regenerated your initramfs? What did you add/remove exactly?

Sure, like told wiki. I added "radeon" in the modules section.

KMS should be enabled by default now. Does everything work correctly if you simply remove the radeon module from loading in early userspace (remove it from /etc/mkinitcpio.conf and regen the initramfs)?

I don't know, never tried.. I had just followed the wiki.. Now i can't login because arch go to kp first i can do anything.
I tried to do this under live:
# mount /dev/sda1 /media/oldroot (of course I had to create the directory under /media)
# mount /dev/sda2 /media/oldhome (i don't have the /home partition so i had skipped this part)
# chroot /media/oldroot
I removed radeon from /etc/mkinitcpio.conf and when i'm going to regenerate the initramfs, arch told me that also /proc is be mounted or something like that.

You want to mount sys, dev and proc as well when before chrooting in. See this wiki article for an explanation and instructions.
