volume up/down acer buttons deactivated

Hallo everyone, this is my first post as i am fresh new in arch linux.
I have an Acer aspire 5920 laptop and i have one question. I used to have ubuntu and Debian before and after installation i cound normally use
all the multimedia buttons uncluded volume up/down by default.
Now in Arch all of them are deactivated. I can understand that this is part of the "arch way" and i like it.
I am wondering if there's a way to find theese settings but i didnt manage so far to find something like this on settings (XFCE4) or the web.
I am thinking that this might be something "lower" than common settings.
Any advice would be helpfull considering that i am completely lost:)
thanks in advance

Re: volume up/down acer buttons deactivated

They are not deactivated, just not yet activated.

Some WMs/DEs can map these themselves, but I'd recommend xbindkeys as a general solution that can be brought to other WMs if you chose to change.

There are examples in that wiki specifically for volume keys, you can also use xev to find the keycodes to map other media keys.

Re: volume up/down acer buttons deactivated

thanks a lot for the quick answer. i use xbindkeys now succesfully. but there is something really strange to me. Two of my multimedia buttons ( play/pause and stop )
are working as PageUp and PageDown. I have not made theese assignments from keyboard settings or xbindkeys. Is there anything else "under the hood" controlling shortcuts like theese?
Thanks again
