[SOLVED] Deluge isn't

Hi Forum bots.

I'm brand new , so firstly Hi.

After installing the Arch with X, gdm, and e17 I decided on Deluge for a Torrent, only it's neither.

As a guess I'd say I've done something wrong. Can anyone point me in the right direction please?
I've also got problems finding Connection Manger. It's on the computer somewhere, Daemons are set up for it and Deluge, just no go on the operation front. Thanks.

Now running as root. Screw it. rTorrent it is then.

Thanks, but: pacman -R deluge, has sorted my issue.

As an aside if anyone wants to pile in, how would one go about changing permissions in deluge seeing as how the file to .config is out of bounds? No rush, rTorrent is fine.

Is this solved or not? Are you actually looking into this, or just sitting around waiting for someone to tell you what to do? You waited all of 14 hours for a response from someone, marked this as "solved but not solved" without any actual solution, don't even have a clear title--do you care, or don't you?

The thread is not "[SOLVED]", you gave up. There's a difference. And what exactly were you trying to do? Were you trying to set up the "deluged" daemon? Because Deluge can work just fine without it. I don't use a daemon. But if you really want to, here's how you set it up: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Deluge

You basically start it from /etc/rc.conf, and to connect remotely via the Gtk ui you edit some stuff in /srv/deluge/.config/deluge/. Big fricken deal... The only real advantage is that even if X crashes, the torrents keep going. Just like mpd (which I think is A LOT more useful than seeding a bunch of files, during the 'once-in-a-blue-moon' that you need to work on X).

The thread is solved, the problem with Deluge is still a problem with Deluge. If someone wants to rewrite the code crack on. If I had the time and knowledge I'd do it myself. There is no need for a programme to be so involved when it's competitiors are just plug&play. Not the right attitude for Arch? Sue me.

I found a solution that suited my needs, my current CLi ability and my level of Arch knowledge. Simplicity is a must for me and resource conservation is a must for my Decade old PC.

Thanks for the Wiki, I'll have a read. I may get back to Deluge but rTorrent is working just fine.

I wanted a Torrent Client, not a new philosophy.

I chose a client that didn't work straight out of the box. I tried to fiddle with the script but to no avail. After reading and completing the Wiki line-by-line step-by-step, It still didn't work. Do I wait around hoping someone will give me the answer to the problem, or sort it myself?

I resolved an issue I had with a particular app = Solved.
The issue still exists within the app = Kinda.

I hope this is clearer for you.

Please do not mark this thread as "closed". This is reserved for threads which are not longer accessible to be written to, see How to Post in the forum etiquette.

You may use something like "not resolved" if you really need to (which by the way you do not, imo).

My apologies. To clarify the problem and solution.

After following the Wiki for the first time Deluge wouldn't run either as "user" or as "root". I'd obviously missed something out so I re-read and re-did the Wiki. This led to "root" being able to use Deluge but still no "user".
After giving the command which can be found in post #8, courtesy of bogamol, Deluge could be run as "user" from the desktop shortcut. I also followed the instructions given in the second link in #8 but to no avail, however I didn't undo any of the changes I'd made prior to issuing :$ chmod -R 777 \deluge, so maybe they helped a bit.

Hope this is clearer for anyone else having the same problems as I did.
