wmii-2 window manager

Hey guys, I know some of you already use it, but I've been playing around with wmii-2 over the weekend and it's really beginning to grow on me.

While I also liked the older wmi, I didn't care much for the first few releases of wmii as they came out. Things are better now, however, and I do recommend that anyone wanting to use a keyboard-oriented window manager give wmii-2 a go. It's extremely lightweight, fast, and it's available through the Arch "community" repo.

There's not a great deal of online documentation that I could find, but it's not hard to figure it all out through simple experimentation and the man pages. Most of the config files are straight forward by design and fairly simple to understand.

If any of you know of any tips, tweaks, themes, or other goodies relating to wmii-2, I'd be interested in them.

wmii-2 = cool 8)

For the record, I'm only maintaining the actual releases of wmii, not the snapshots - if anyone is interested, I can create a wmii-devel package for snapshots (which are released ever 2-3 days and sometimes break things)

Hmm... so I guess noone else is using it - well, I'm feeling all lonely now.

well, seeing as the configuration changes rapidly from release to release, there's not alot you can really tweak...

Also, there's about 5 or 6 archers who use wmii... I do (though I use ratpoison way more often), as does Dusty and a few others...

Thanks for the reply, phrakture. Guess I'll just keep watching it for additional features and configuration options as the new releases come out.

I've been using wmii from darcs for about a week now, it's pretty nice. It's been changing quite a bit lately, so I haven't been able to settle down and make it mine, but it's nice nonetheless.

Right... big thing is that I'll have to package "9rc" when wmii-3 is released... this implementation of rc is used for the actions and is 50x faster than bash 8)
