Hello,
Since I updated my system my fan seems to be running at 100% non-stop, which use to only happen if catalyst was not installed if I had an open source driver installed..
Xserver starts up fine, however trying to watch a video in VLC or trying to run a game fails. E.g. Minecraft report:
org.lwjgl.LWJGLException: X Error - disp: 0x29cf6858 serial: 36 error: BadRequest (invalid request code or no such operation) request_code: 136 minor_code: 14

Does anyone know how to fix this?
Many Thanks

Did you read this?
Yes I did, which part are you refering to specifically?
(fyi my laptop's fans are controlled by my graphics card so open-source drivers mean the fans run at 100% which tends to annoy people in lectures, hence why I have to use catalyst)..

xorg 1.12 isn't supported yet. Mostly catalyst 12.5 might!
edit:
what version of Lwjgl are you using?
Try updating it, if its not the latest.

Thanks for the reply ![]()
(Should have mentioned this earlier) I have already added the Xorg111 repo to the top of the repo list in pacman.conf..
Java isn't the only issue unfortunatly, vlc refuses to play any sort of video and just comes up with a black screen while pretending to play it(sound working though) (flash seems to work odly although I suspect it doesn't use opengl..).

When you said VLC had issues, i wasn't sure whether you are using xorg111 . I guessed it would be more than java.

Just to be clear, I need to solve the fans and the general video problems with vlc, flash is just a side-effect of something that has clearly gone wrong.
Many Thanks

Wow I gotta say that was an impressive quick fix, in about 6 hours Catalyst 12.4-2 comes out and totally fixes the problem!
Hats off to the driver maintaners!
