Hello I am new here, I just installed Arch Linux last week, I have been a Fedora, and Ubuntu user for over 8 years. Hope to applying my ideas and help to a growing community.

Hi Everyone,
I've been using various Linux distros for nearly 10 years, but I've been unable to find one that I can customise and truly make my own.
I've heard great things about Arch, so I've decided to take the plunge and start using it. I'm also hoping to learn a lot more about Linux in the process.

Hello everyone,
I'm cylinder57.
This is actually my second post (I didn't need help at first.)
Though it is great to learn how linux is operated, I really chose to use arch because I could better control my system.
I could control its stability (which I highly value.) I could also achieve a fast system because I have much better control of what programs I have in my computer.
There are many reasons for me to use arch.

Hello everyone!
While I've been using Arch for nearly a year now, I've not taken the time to join the forum before now. I've been reading posts here since nearly day 1 of my use of this distribution, and have always appreciated the support and discussion on this forum.
There have been a good number of times in the past where I'd seen someone post a question here, but I'd unfortunately been unable to assist them due to not having an account. However, fortunately those people were always assisted by someone and their problem solved. Hopefully in future I will be able to provide any assistance and answers wherever I can. I also hope my questions and issues can be resolved with the same level success as I've seen so many times now.
I've found Arch to be a fantastic system for any of my uses; currently I have it installed on my desktop computer and my portable laptop computer. For a while I even ran Arch on a server, but chickened out and installed Debian despite the system working quite well. I'd recommend this distribution to anybody (and have a few times now ), so thanks a lot to those involved in developing it and those involved in the community.

Howdy folks,
My name is Matt and I am (against the No Noobs, No Bozos message) still a newbie to Linux in general, though I'm going to be using it for work. I have to say, Arch seems like an exceptionally cool distro to get started on. I've used Ubuntu a little bit in the past and learned some shell programming, but this is entirely different and really exciting! Looking forward to getting involved and proficient in Arch!

Hi there, I'm on board!

Is this still a thing? Wow.
Anyway, Hi I'm Toost Inc.
I joined the fray yesterday, as I grew tired of ubuntu trying to install all loads of crap every time there was a distribution update. Let alone deleting stuff I was using! I look forward to never having to deal with that again, though I still catch myself trying to type apt-get in stead of pacman.

I was flattered by the idea of an operating system that wasn't made with the intention to make money off of people so I turned to linux. Then I was flattered by the idea of minimal software build made easy with GREAT documentation so I turned to Arch Linux. My dated laptop is as fast as it could possibly be and even runs open source games like Sauerbraten very very very well (up to 100fps).
I've been obsessing over arch for the past week. Fun fun fun fun.

Hi everyone. I've just installed Arch last night. I must say, I did a lot of reading to get my system to a working state but it was fun. I also learned a lot just from installing. More than I knew before while using Debian. I'm running Arch with KDE on a Compaq Presario CQ56.

Hello everyone, I was a big time Fedora user (since 2004). And I am still a Fedora Contributor from Bangladesh. Switched to Arch just a week ago. And I am already Loving Arch more than anything. This is already my most fav distro.
Before installing Arch, I was trying Gentoo for a long time. Gentoo was good, but I realized source based distro is not for me.
While installing Arch, what amazed me most is, how fast it installs a package. And the whole system is super stable. This is really amazing.
I am really happy to switch to Arch. And I am hoping to contribute to the Arch Linux Project as well.

Hello. While it kinda kicked my butt trying to get everything working, I had a blast getting Arch installed. I feel like I learned a lot and actually accomplished something. Now to get programming in Java!

Hello Arch world! I installed arch about 2 weeks ago. I migrated over from the debian world of *buntu and crunchbang to archbang and then just decided to do it right and went for a base Arch install to build upon. Let me say that the experience has been wonderful. On other distros I tended to compile various software (mostly games) from source and kinda just accepted that by doing so it would be hard to keep the system fully synced with a package management system. The whole pacman->ABS->AUR helpers realization really blew me away! Needless to say I don't plan on looking back. I've been lurking in the forums since install (where else could I possibly find help when I screw up configuring xorg or grub?). I hope to contribute to and be part of this wonderful community!

Hello!
My name is Steve, and I'm a music teacher using Linux in the classroom.
I started using Linux a few years back with Mepis, then Ubuntu, but I wanted something rolling, edgy, and lighter - Arch!
I just got my brain wrapped around installing and using Arch (gnome) and loving it!
My next step is to get Arch on a usb with persistence so I can start using it with my students.

Welcome to the forums. This sounds really interesting. How do you integrate Linux into your lessons? How would it work with the usbs - you give them out one per student, or you hang on to them and have the students work in groups?

Hello everyone, hope all is well. My name is Artur, I come from the ubuntu world, running a kubuntu box right now. Have been cowardly curious about Arch for some time now, got my new laptop which is powerful enough to run another OS in a virtual box, decided it's time now to give Arch a serious look. So far, so many problems! ^) can't get past command-line interface, but it's been fun since yesterday, I think I'm hooked on Arch. Hope my time here will be long and rewarding. Have a great day!

Hello,
My name is Rob, and I live in NW Montana.
I am a newcomer to Arch. Declaring war on the Microsoft monopoly I had been using Ubuntu for 5 releases until 11.04 when I migrated to Linux Mint 11. I now happily use LM 11 and LM 12 KDE 64 bit and have left Ubuntu completely. My move to Arch is to now learn the basics in a unix like manner. My background is in mainframes, mainly VM/CMS but also MVS/TSO and OS/2 and Windows. I like to use Regina REXX as my scripting language along with The Hessling Editor (THE) as my heavy duty xedit like editor. I learned to use rexx and xedit in my mainframe days and they carried over (they still work) to PCs (windows and OS/2) as well as linux. In my working years I developed applications in SAS (Statistical Analysis System) along with many 4GL packages (Simplan, IFPS, Boeing EIS) and Chesapeake's MIMI for mathematical programming and optimization.
I am a retired, formerly overpaid software developer.
I hope to learn enough here so I can help out as well as get help.

I would like to thank you everyone, the forums and wiki were great help for me during the installation and after.
