Portion of screen freezing with some applications

I have been noticing that some select programs when opened, have a chance at freezing a portion of my second monitor. The section that freezes is always the same section and returns to normal when the program that causes it is closed.

Programs that cause the problem: epdfview, pcmanfm, gvim.

I am using openbox, have an nvidia card with the nvidia drivers installed.

Let me know if you have any tips. Thanks

well I have had a similar problem. I recently updated and when I opened iGoogle in Chromium, everything froze and I had to force shutdown (I absolutely hate force shutdowns they are very bad for the system)

I haven't had to shutdown because of it. I just need to close the program and it goes away. But that means if I want to use one of these programs I have to close and open it again and again until I get it so it doesn't cause that problem. Very annoying.
