[SOLVED] Instance of Flyspray for AUR PKGBUILD Requests

Hey,

i'm interested to build packages for the aur, but it's quite annoying to search the forum.

Additionally it would be nice to see how many of the arch user are interested in a specific
PKGBUILD, if somebody is already working on it and archlinux.org is using Flyspray already as Bugtracker,

Suggestions and comments desired

Re: [SOLVED] Instance of Flyspray for AUR PKGBUILD Requests

If someone wants some PKGBUILD, he/she asks for it. If no one does, maybe nobody wants it ;P
On the other hand, you can apply "build and they will come" approach: put the PKGBUILD in the AUR and see how many votes you get.

I admit that discussing issues in the AUR is not pleasant and opening a report in flyspray is better.

Re: [SOLVED] Instance of Flyspray for AUR PKGBUILD Requests

thanks for the comment smile

the "nobody asks, nobody wants" is clear tongue
but in my opinion the Request in the forum:

- gets out of view too fast
- doesn't animate to vote for the request
- doesn't animate to request a PKGBUILD

maybe there is only a small effect if we would use flyspray...but i'm sure there
is a effect.

and how already mentioned above. flyspray is already used for bugs...a new instance
with another "Topic" wouldn't be that difficult and time-consuming smile

Re: [SOLVED] Instance of Flyspray for AUR PKGBUILD Requests

1. PKGBUILDs in the AUR are not supported and I doubt requests for them will get a space in the Arch official bug tracker.
2. Anyone can put the PKGBUILDs in the AUR, so all authors would have to be imported to the flyspray database in case someone files a bug report against some AUR PKGBUILD so you could assign the bugs and later close them.

We have a dedicated subforum for AUR issues and requests. If the threads are "tagged" as [requests] it's trivial to find them.

You can always ask and it's certainly isn't discouraged. You should try yourself first, even if you don't get it right.

And what good would the votes do? Who would be forced to create a PKGBUILD once it gets n votes?
First you say you want to provide PKGBUILDs but later you talk about votes. Why not help if you can, even if just one person wants such PKGBUILD?

yes, but if u tried and post it to forum where it is on second and third page after a few hours?

nobody is forced. but maybe more users are interested in building a package which more users need (votes)

i already do. and it's quite fun...search for entries in forum and guess which one is mostly needed is no fun.

If you're using 75 threads per page setting, the first page of this subforum shows threads back to early April - a month ago.
