Flashplugin stops working after upgrade to 11.2.X

Hello!

After upgrading flashplugin from [extra] repository to version 11.2 (by 'pacman -Syu') it does not work anymore. It was tested in firefox and chromium. In about:config I can see that flashplayer is installed, but when I'm trying to play flash browsers say 'plugin missing'. Downgrading to 11.1 solves problem, but may be there is a way to get recent version of flashplugin working?

Packages versions:

flashplugin 11.2.202.235-1
firefox 12.0-2
chromium 18.0.1025.168-1
gtk2 2.24.10-3

cat /etc/adobe/mms.cfg

#Hardware video decoding
EnableLinuxHWVideoDecode=0

lspci | grep VGA

02:00.0 VGA compatible controller: NVIDIA Corporation NV34 [GeForce FX 5200] (rev a1)

Thanks in advance for help!

Re: Flashplugin stops working after upgrade to 11.2.X

I had the same problem this morning after a Chromium update.

All I did was close Chromium, and reinstalled flash: sudo pacman -Syu flashplugin

After restarting Chromium, the flash player is now working.

Re: Flashplugin stops working after upgrade to 11.2.X

Since version 11.1.102.63-1 new versions of the flashplugin either do not display the flash content (f.e. firefox) or directly crash the browser (Midori, Jumanji) when displaying flash content.

Everything worked fine with 11.1.102.63-1 (which I had to downgrade to the patched 10,3.183.18 available for those who could not upgrade to 11.2.x ).

Nowadays I am crossing fingers that with each new update things will work just as they used to do but I every time I end up downgrading the package (actually just replacing the .so file).

Any clue?

@jasonwryan

I did but as there was no reference to crashes in this thread I decided to post mine independently.

There are tons of flash threads around. This one seems the most relevant to the issues here: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=141135

Re: Flashplugin stops working after upgrade to 11.2.X

@Gusar

Thanks a lot. Going for 10.3 then and crossing fingers that it will be maintained enough to see the end of flash.

It may a good idea if the site's staff thinks about a way of making public that recent flash versions need SSE2 if they haven't thought of it already.

Now I have just to figure out why Opera only shows flash video in 24bit mode lol

Re: Flashplugin stops working after upgrade to 11.2.X

I've installed flashplugin-10 from AUR (version 10.3.183.18-1). It seems to work for all web-browsers. It's my temporary workaround before working version in official repository appears.

Re: Flashplugin stops working after upgrade to 11.2.X

That one has a vulnerability. There's 10.3.183.19 which fixes it.

I doubt there will ever be a working version in the official repos. The official repos contain only the latest, which is 11.2, and Adobe isn't working on that anymore aside from security fixes. And once 10.3 stops getting security fixes (I'm kinda thinking it'll happen when 11.3 is released), you're pretty much screwed.

Re: Flashplugin stops working after upgrade to 11.2.X

Hi,

Just upgraded to the new opera and flash doesn't work with the new flashplugin or any of the flash packages from AUR. I'm on a 64 bit machine and I also tried 10.3.183.19. Does anyone know of ANY way to get opera working with flash?

Thanks
