[solved] After installation GRUB doesn't boot and kernel panic(...)

Hey,
I recently decided to change my Debian to Arch and I have this weird installation issue that I can't handle.
Installation process itslef seems to end sucessful though when I choose GRUB during installing it doesn't boot, and when I choose syslinux I get kernel panic after few seconds.

Karnel panic - not syncing: Attempted to kill init!
Pid: 1, comm: init Not tainted 3.3.5-1-ARCH #1
Call Trace: (…)

I was following official installation guide.
I found somewhere in google that I should perform e2fsck but when I did it everything seems ok.
I tried to set up partitions manually and later automaticlly. I have no idea what to do. Could anyone help me?

PS. Sorry for my English

Re: [solved] After installation GRUB doesn't boot and kernel panic(...)

When I chose GRUB during instalation i got message that "Grub was installed sucessful" bla bla bla "type reboot", so everything was fine until reboot. After this GRUB didn't want to boot, only syslinux but after few seconds I got kernel panic.
When I tried to install Debian I got error during installation of GRUB.

I solved this problem by connecting same IDE tape to CD-Drive and HDD drive, only then GRUB installation succeded in Arch and in Debian.

Welcome to the forum.

Who could have guessed that it was a hardware issue? It's usually user error. Good thing that you have hands-on experience with the machine to know it well enough, else probably no one would've caught it. Good job.

You should mark the thread as solved (by editing the first post and changing its title).

Re: [solved] After installation GRUB doesn't boot and kernel panic(...)

but don't you think it's weird? few years ago I've installed ubuntu 7.04 and I had optical drive and disk drive connected to the diffrent IDE cables and there wasn't any problem with installation of bootloader
