[SOLVED]xfce 4.10 wallpaper issue

prior to upgrading xfce to 4.10 i had a big list of wallpaper .jpg's & used a script to reload xfdesktop so as to make them 'rotate'
4.10 has this built in & i used for a while but for some reason now the wallpaper selection tool is no longer recognising my images i think my mime types have messed up somewhere along the line but i have never touched these.

how do i enable logging for xfce so as to work out what has gone wrong?
is anyone else experiencing this problem?

this is really weird & i am totally confused as i am certain the last time i powered up my pc all was ok but have checked log files but cannot find anything

So your list is empty? Try deleting it and recreating it.

I too use a list under 4.10 just fine... but I let cron select one at random:

*/20 * * * *  [[ ! -z $(pidof xfdesktop) ]] && DISPLAY=:0.0 /usr/bin/xfdesktop --reload

i deleted the list, recreated but still they fail to even show in the list!

my list did have 91 items in there but now it is down to 3 images:
arch shinnyblack.jpg
& 2 other png files

if i try to open them in ristretto they fail to display in there aswell
thunar is displaying the thumbnail fine & gimp can open them too as can feh

really odd!

reinstalled gdk-pixbuf2-2.26.1-1 & all is ok!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

what on earth happened there then :-/
