I hate docbook. With a passion. The markup sucks, and the toolchain blows.
I like LaTeX quit a bit, but for quick documentation, it might not be the best. Admittedly, not everyone knows LaTeX markup, so it might be a barrier to entry for new projects, seeking documentation help.
I have also tried AurigaDoc. It is more "html-like" in its syntax.
I found this the other day too.. Looks interesting. I believe the lighttpd project uses it.

Anyway, I was just wondering what the rest of you out there might be using. I would go with plain html for documentation, but the exportability of it leaves much to be desired. I really do like being able to create a pdf of documentation (whether it be for a more printable form, submitting a work to a publication, etc).

Probably not what you're looking for, but I've heard alot about this:
http://skawina.eu.org/mikolaj/vst.html
It's a vim plugin for docutils (PKGBUILD in the AUR, thank you very much)

I have on my todo list to look at alternatives to DocBook. Here is one on my short list if you want to check it out:

If you try it, I would be interested in what you think of it.

For in-code documentation, there is nothing finer, in my opinion, then doxygen. It just works great!
The search for me is for out of code documentation. Things like how-to guides, articles, books perhaps, design specifications, etc.
