[Grub2] Some themes that I created

For now I created two themes for grub2 (gfxmenu)
I hope you enjoy

Archxion

Archlinux (WIP)

For now the themes are available here: https://github.com/Generator/Grub2-themes

Later I'll put in AUR

How To Install:

$git clone git://github.com/Generator/Grub2-themes.git
#cp -r Grub2-themes/{Archlinux,Archxion} /boot/grub/themes/

Edit /etc/default/grub, and change line:

#GRUB_THEME="/path/to/gfxtheme"
to 
GRUB_THEME="/boot/grub/themes/Archxion/theme.txt"
or
GRUB_THEME="/boot/grub/themes/Archlinux/theme.txt"

The resolution the theme was designed to show best at 1024x768:

GRUB_GFXMODE=auto
to
GRUB_GFXMODE=1024x768

Pretty sure this is kind of useless for the vast majority, certaintly not worth the work for the 2 seconds that I see it once every few days.

grim : set the countdown to 5 minutes, so that you can admire it as long as you want !

Its simple to install, copy the theme to /boot/grub/themes
edit /etc/default/grub and change:

#GRUB_THEME="/path/to/gfxtheme"
to
GRUB_THEME="/boot/grub/themes/Archxion/theme.txt"

You can change the background, just pick some image then resize to 1024x768 and overwrite /boot/grub/themes/Archxion/background.png

First, how do you know what the vast majority of users' computing habits are?

Second, showing the GRUB menu for even two seconds is pointless unless one has a multiboot system, as the OP clearly does.

It's called common sense. It's what makes me think that the vast majority of multiboot users (me included) don't sit around admiring how beautiful their grub menu is. We just pick an option, and bye bye menu. That, coupled with the fact that (again, just common sense) many if not most Linux users have uptimes of, well, days, makes this kind of useless for the vast majority, yes. As I said, it looks great, but it's still not worth the trouble for me. You go on ahead and use it if you so wish, no one's keeping you from doing that

Hey, I personally use Syslinux, so I don't need the themes either. But a quick stroll down Google lane will tell ya that a hell of a lot of people lack your kind of common sense, and patronizing them isn't likely to change their minds. Telling someone that their efforts are "useless" because they're detrimental or impractical is one thing; doing so because you don't care is just insulting.

EDIT: I'm guessing you didn't actually mean to be insulting; that's just how things seemed on my end. There's really no point in me being a jerk about it, either. Sorry if I misunderstood something.

Yes, i forked the Axion theme (Archlinux+Axiom=Archxion)
but I've changed some things that had in Axion, style boxes, icons, background, logo etc ...

Sooo,how can someone install them if using ubuntu's grub2 ? I hadn't updated grub legacy on arch and I recently installed ubuntu. My grub says 1.99-21ubuntu3.1. From my undestanding,any changes should be done from ubuntu. Or not ? Confused

Actually this did make me motivated to upgrade one machine to Grub2, even though I really don't like Grub2.

Check the ubuntu community documentation. They have a load of stuff on Grub2 and the forums there are quite helpful. This should probably get you started and cover just about anything you need.
