PulseAudio/alsa-utils increases audio to 100% on KDE

I am running KDE and have installed PulseAudio (with pulseaudio-alsa) as my sound system

Everything has been running fine, when I reboot my system and log back into KDE my volume level is remembered (currently at 30%)

This morning I installed the Google Talk plugin from AUR and that relies on alsa-utils, when I start using Chrome as soon as it uses the Google Talk plugin my volume jumps to 100%

My questions are:

1. How do I get ALAS to match PulseAudio (for the times ALSA is called upon)

2. What is the recommend sound system for KDE? I've had problems in the past with ASLA and alsa-utils, I'd get a message when logging in saying that "KDE had detected that one or more sound devices had been removed" (???), also, Clementine would freak out when trying to play anything (failed to connect connection refused)

Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated

UPDATE 1

Removing pulseaudio and pulseaudio-alsa fixed the problem, but now I have the "KDE had detected that one or more sound devices had been removed" and Clementine issue

UPDATE 2

After restarting my system and pressing yes once to the "KDE  had detected that one or more sound devices has been removed" message, everything seems to be OK now, I'll try it on my systems at home when I am at home

Do I really only need alsa-utils installed on KDE?

This is the message that sometimes pops up

After seeing this message Clementine says "failed to connect connection refused"

I think pulse audio is the best choice. You'd better to reinstall it and also install pavucontrol package. launch pavucontrol and set your default card as fallback near its name in the output. And in systemsettings->multimedia->phonon->device preference tab make your card at 1st.

With pavucontrol you can set volume value of apps in playback tab.

More PulseAudio problems

I would set the audio level on my laptop, but when I reboot it always start at 100% muted

Is PulseAudio recommenced?

I've tried that, but it always restores the volume to what it was when I saved it, not was it was when I shutdown/rebooted my laptop.

Do you have PulseAudio installed?
