Multitouch gestures

Hi everyone. I was with a friend some days ago that owns a macbook and i noticed that he can change the current window only doing a multitouch horizontal scroll (2 fingers). I was wondering how i can do something like that in my archlinux. I know my laptop (Lenovo S205) supports multitouch, so hardware is not the problem. The problem is that i dont know so much how to configure X server to achieve that behaviour haha.

Thank you by your reply, but i didn't find anything useful in the link you posted, it only refers to basic configuracion of the synaptics.

I should tell you: im not a novice linux user, i have been using it along some years. The point here is that i want to do a tweak to the behaviour of multitouch gestures. I have been searching a lot in google but didn't find anything

I'd be grateful you give me some help about this.

The options:
Option "HorizEdgeScroll" "on"
Option "HorizTwoFingerScroll" "on"
stated there don't do what you want?
Maybe you could describe the gesture you want more in detail then, plus the touchpad your notebook has. Others may have an idea then.

The options don't do what i want. I want to configure the system to change the current windows (like Alt+tab) each time i do a horizontal "strike" with 2 fingers in the touchpad. I hope i explained it well now.

I don't know the exact model of the touchpad, but i have tested it with multitouch scrolling and it works. It has 2 buttons too and edge scrolling (that's what im currently using)

PD: im using gnome3 (gnome-shell)

I'm assuming you mean switching through workspaces with a two finger touch instead of alt+tab like functionality? I believe this is how OSX 10.7 functions (at least IIRC with my limited experience of it).

As far as I know, there is no current way to implement this. Maybe someone else can chime in with another idea, but this seems like it would have to be built into the window manager rather than X since X doesn't handle workspaces.

I believe TouchEgg is a QT4 appplication? The OP is using Gnome3.

Well, as far as I'm aware (and I may be totally wrong here) there isn't a lot of multitouch gesturing going on on Linux yet. TouchEgg is the only one I know of that is kind of working. I think Ubuntu is working on Ginn and uTouch. Haven't tried it myself so don't really know what the go is there. Maybe the Ubuntu wiki may give some pointers: MultiTouch. This came up after a quick google.
