Re: [solved] upower breaks gnome-power

Hello,

it seems i have the same problem.
My battery icon in gnome shell is missing and if I start gnome-power-statistics I get the same error messages.

I tried to downgrade upower to 0.9.15 but the problem is still present.

upower -v     gives me a "strange" output

UPower client version 0.9.15
UPower daemon version (null)

daemon version (null ?!?! is that normal?

anyone an idea, what I did wrong?

Thanks a lot

Re: [solved] upower breaks gnome-power

I solved my problem now...in a dirty way...but it works

I found out that upowerd did not start, because "libimobiledevice.so.2" was missing.

In the package libimobiledevice-1.1.1-3 this file should be, but, I don't know why, in my /usr/lib/ directory it was not.
But there was a libimobiledevice.so.3 and libimobiledevice.so.3.0.0

So i created two links to this files

ln -s /usr/lib/libimobiledevice.so.3 /usr/lib/libimobiledevice.so.2
ln -s /usr/lib/libimobiledevice.so.3.0.0 /usr/lib/libimobiledevice.so.2.0.0

After a reboot it's working.

DoubleX667 a better solution is to reinstall libimobiledevice

Give what you have. To someone, it may be better than you dare to think.

Re: [solved] upower breaks gnome-power

Hi guys,

i have the same problem. I had reinstalled upower 0.9.15 and libimobiledevice. Everything works fine for one reboot. By the second reboot, doesn't work anymore :?

There is something that i can do?
Thanks, Gabriele.

you can safely keep 0.9.16 libimobiledevice,
then get upower PKGBUILD (p.e. yaourt -G upower)
then cd into upower directory
makepkg
and install newly created pkg.xz with pacman -U
