[Solved] laptop brightness change

Hi,
I have some brightness issue on my sony vaio FE11M since the last update of the nvidia driver.
I used to use smartdimmer to change brightness but it didn't work anymore. smartdimmer and nvclock  segfault on the manipulation of nvidia.PCM register.

I try other method to change brightness but it didn't work.
for exemple with nvidiabl, /sys/class/backlight/nvidia_backlight/brightness exist but echo to it didn't change brightness.

I try to downgrade to 190.40 but i seems incompatible with the actual kernel/X.

Is anybody have some advice?

Re: [Solved] laptop brightness change

Hello there,
if you haven't already, try to add this line to your /etc/X11/xorg.conf file, under    Section "Device"   :

Option   "RegistryDwords"   "EnableBrightnessControl=1"

Then try again to echo the value to the file, using sudo of course.
Bye

Re: [Solved] laptop brightness change

Thanks for you reply but I have already try that.
I have solved my problem by downgrading the nvidia driver (I used the ignore ABI flag to pass the serverX problem)
