After a recent system upgrade, Gnome-Terminal instances began to lag in redrawing the window. For example, when switching between viewports in my window manager, any open terminal window would first appear blank (a gray color) for about a second before showing their contents. Also, scrolling in Vim was exceedingly slow. Anything that required a large portion of the window to be redrawn was problematic. It turned out that rolling back from Cairo-1.12.2-1 to 1.10.2-3 fixed it. It's weird though and just thought I'd say something about it.
