EEE PC w/ alc269 sound card: crackling noise after udev loads modules

Hello fellow archers I decide to install Arch on an Asus 1000HE EEE PC which supposedly has an ALC269 sound card. I believe Intel snd_hda drivers/modules are being used.

Anywho, I have this low annoying crackling or static noise that starts pretty much when udev loads modules during boot.

I'm wondering if it's some kind of conflict or driver issue going on here.

I can only get rid of the noise by muting the "Speaker" through alsamixer, which means if I want sound I have to put up with the noise.

I also had this issue in Windows, but I vaguely recall it being intermittent and going away after a reboot. On Arch it is constant.

I've googled it quite a bit, and it's somewhat of a known issue. Some report it's a some kind of hardware or driver problem, but I've yet to find a solution.

It's pretty annoying. I would greatly appreciate any help.
