404 on a mirror

Hi!

Today is the second day I see such situation: db file is uploaded to mirror earlier rather packages themselves, I guess. As a result, such errors takes place:

:: Retrieving packages from extra...
error: failed retrieving file 'libcups-1.5.3-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.xz' from mirror.yandex.ru : The requested URL returned error: 404
warning: failed to retrieve some files from extra
error: failed retrieving file 'cups-1.5.3-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.xz' from mirror.yandex.ru : The requested URL returned error: 404
warning: failed to retrieve some files from extra
error: failed to commit transaction (download library error)
Errors occurred, no packages were upgraded.

I have tried above mirror in Russia and one of the French mirrors. The error isn't show stopper, of course,  but I never met such situation earlier (about a year under Arch).

Was anything changed?

Re: 404 on a mirror

Have you tried switching mirrors? Those specific mirrors don't appear to be out of sync as of this moment.

Sorry, I don't understand. What do you mean saying "switching"? As I have wrote, I have tried two different mirrors in two different countries smile (via /etc/pacman.d/mirrorlist editing). Anything else?

Re: 404 on a mirror

I've been using the French mirrors too lately because I often get errors with the UK ones. But the French didn't work either for me today. I've tried the German ones and they're fine. Maybe give those a shot.

Re: 404 on a mirror

I was getting the same 404 errors on mirrors (tried about 8)...  I'm not too knowledgable about pacman, but updating all packages seemed to fix the problem for me:

> pacman -Syu

I mean that you should edit mirrorlist and comment the one you are using now, and uncomment others.

I'd try ftp.archlinux.org. It's really slow, but it should work.

Sorry if I haven't been clear, I forget sometimes that not everyone speaks English natively
