TV software?

Due to space limitations I've purchased a DVB-T2 card to consolidate all of my media into one place, however I'm stumped when it comes to software for it, after a lot of searching all I can find is bloated and unmaintained apps that require multiple toolkits and still don't function correctly. Mythweb looked promising but you can't even just browse the EPG, click on a program and watch it without recording it first, I'd much rather have an ncurses like interface I can navigate, web based would be ok if it actually worked.

Anybody know of some working and maintained light weight apps that can offer me an EPG?

Could you please list at least some of the apps you found already? I don't want to be suggesting things you've already looked for.

Does XMBC work for what you're looking to do?

I've checked out most of the maintained stuff on http://linuxtv.org/wiki/index.php/TV_Related_Software - to use XBMC you still need a backend, the only one that still seems in active development seems to be MythTV which will pull in QT and more crud I'll never use.

Have you looked at me-tv? It pulls in lots of dependencies for me, but I don't use any GNOME apps. It's still actively developed, the last release was 03-03-2012.

It's a GTK app that pulls in QT

I think I've made a horrible mistake, I should have kept my standalone TV.

AFAIK TV Headend integrates also quite nicely into XBMC:

Personally I use a combination of TV Browser as EPG, a few bash scripts plus cron and Mencoder for recording from DVB-T. This works pretty flawlessly.

VDR, best DVB software I used and champion of simplicity. Plugins will give you all the extra features you want. EPG support builtin, imagine that.
