why do i loose transparency?

i use "tilda" terminal, the background should be transparent (it's so vital for me in this particular app, since i should see behind it what am i actually supposed to type in terminal)
but after a while, i loose 'true' transparency, it just shows part of desktop background
i use gnome, everything updated, what's causing the problem? give me a hint please to know at least where too look for the problem

Re: why do i loose transparency?

What video card and drivers are you using? Have you seen any warning / error messages in /var/log/Xorg.0.log?

Re: why do i loose transparency?

Do you lose transparency in a single instance? Or you mean that closing the terminal and opening it again still won't get transparency back? The things you could try are switching between XAA and EXA (and UXA and SNA if you're using intel). And turning the composite extension on and off with:

Section "Extensions"
  Option "Composite" "true"
EndSection

Re: why do i loose transparency?

the problem was that i ran tilda too early, i had set it in gnome-session-properties in the list of start-up apps,
i used to put it in .bash_profile, but this way tilda wont run i dont know why, now i have to run it manually
