I have an external USB drive (/dev/sdb) with two partitions: NTFS (sdb1) and ext4 (sdb2). I have no problems with either partition however I noticed this message (repeated) in kernel.log:
EXT4-fs (sdb): VFS: Can't find ext4 filesystem
While I think I can safely ignore the message, I am curious what causes it and how I can stop it.

Check if something is trying to mount the entire disk, sdb, rather than just the partitions, sdb1 and sdb2.
