Tuxguitar causes OS freeze

Very often, but not always, launching tuxguitar leads to total freeze. Like, run tuxguitar command, a splash screen appears and everything freezes in a second, no reaction whatsoever no keyboard, no mouse, no Sysrq, just dead. Could it be java or tuxguitar itself? I decided to consult this forum before filing a bug report.
