After update systemd today, the systemd-remount-fs.service fail to start. Root filesystem is read only I tried add rw to fstab mount option, but the root parition is still read only. I noticed that util-linux package are installed and udev package is dropped , Does it related to my problem?
Please advice me.
Sorry for my bad English.
Update
After downgard util-linux package, the system work again
Update 2
UUID in grub.conf and fstab are inconsistent, Thanks to tomegun for point out this problem.

Does the systemd not support btrfs subvolume as root partition??

Same here.

I had the same problem. For some reason unknown to me, the UUID of my root filesystem changed. I have no idea why that happened. In any case, I had to rewrite my /etc/fstab, creating a new file and all. After that no problems with booting. Hope this helps.

Downgard util-linux package, it works

That's right. The mount command from util-linux 2.21.2-1 unable to do:
mount / -o remount

Sorry for bumping this but has anyone filed a bug or informed the package maintainer??
I am new to arch and all but downgrading doesn't seem like the "best way" -whatever that means- to solve a problem

Is it intentional that your UUID in your grub config and in your fstab for your root partition is different? Surely this can't work?
Could you attach your blkid output?

Because i seem to be hitting the same "bug" (or whatever that is) on a fresh install could you please take a look and to my stuff?? (i wasn't able to set it up so i am writing from another computer hence the lack of pastes)
systemctl reports 4 failed services. The systemd-remount-fs.service fails exactly with the same message as aduser.
In my fstab the / partition is ext4 and with option defaults, noatime.
My system is bootloaderless and uses an entry made with efibootmgr (https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/UE … tmgr_entry).
Any ideas would be more than welcome.
Edit:
also when i check the journalctl messages i get a line
systemd-remount-fs[136]: /bin/mount for / exited with exit status 1
systemd-remount-fs[136]: mount: /: mount failed: invalid argument
