how to copy-paste properly

I've got awesome wm and xterm as default terminal. My "laptop mouse" doesn't have middle-click. So how to copy text from the terminal to firefox (for example)? Is there any way to make it by normal Cntl-C Cntl-V?

Gcool,

Cntr-Insert Shift-Insert don't work. These combinations just type smth in terminal. But Shift-Insert works when we want to copy smth from firefox to terminal.

Re: how to copy-paste properly

I for one use Parcellite to make things more comfortable (clipboard history & clipboard synchronization), but I guess Gcool is right. When I select a bit with mouse in Xterm, I can paste it to another terminal instance with Shift + Insert, as well as using Ctrl + V in other apps.

bohoomil,

I can paste to another teminal too, but I'm not able to paste it to firefox: I select text in terminal and then try to paste here using Shift-Insert or Cntr-V. No effect.

Re: how to copy-paste properly

Install a real terminal and use urxvt-perls...

Or, you could use copy mode in tmux and pipe to xclip or the like...

Re: how to copy-paste properly

Yeah, I would also recommend urxvt+urxvt-perls, but just for the record, then normally, you can press both mouse-buttons at once to emulate a middleclick, or if you have tabbing enabled, tab shortly on the mousepad with two fingers at once...
