Nice, gonna play with this today after my English exam!

Re: Ohsnap I made another font (based on artwiz snap)

Has anyone else installed this font using Gnome? Can you give me a few pointers about the config please?

Re: Ohsnap I made another font (based on artwiz snap)

I put back the line drawing symbols into the iso8859-1 versions and icon versions. They seemed to be working ok in urxvt and dwm but when I tried them in xterm and snapwm, they weren't right. GRRRR. They should be working again. Sorry.

I apologise - I haven't had time to play with this yet. Will do soon!

Re: Ohsnap I made another font (based on artwiz snap)

I should have said that I actually removed the entire first section before (0000 - 001F) which removed the default character (doooh) too. I told you I'm an idiot and have no idea what I'm doing. But like I said I put that back and the line drawing glyphs and they're working again. Anyway, I suspected the same thing with the iso10646-1 versions but wasn't sure what to do. I think I figured it out. I put back the default character and was able to use the Adobe glyphlist to reencode everything (I think). So I think those are right now too. It seems to work in snapwm now smile but still not dwm or dmenu sad I updated it again, the current version is 1.7.8. I'll add some icons to the iso10646-1 versions too eventually.

edit: I tested the 6x10 fixed iso10646-1 on dwm and it doesn't seem to work either.

Re: Ohsnap I made another font (based on artwiz snap)

I have noticed something. Apparently the fonts that work well on my system all have .ttf for the file name.. but ohsnap has .pcf instead. So I believe that may be why it isn't working on my system. Does anyone have any suggestions about how to resolve this?

Re: Ohsnap I made another font (based on artwiz snap)

@rg_arc, maybe take a look at the wiki. There is a lot of info there about fonts that might help you. Anyway, I think I just figured everything out. (yeah right tongue). But seriously, I did. I'm such a genius tongue . Amazing how I went from an idiot to a genius in no time tongue . I know how to map the iso8859 versions correctly and get the extra glyphs that terminus uses in the control areas. I have to leave but I'll do it later tonight or tomorrow and update it again and they should be much better. Sorry for all the updates, but I just want to get it right.

Re: Ohsnap I made another font (based on artwiz snap)

Ok, I'm an idiot again sad I thought for sure I figured out how to map the extra glyphs into the iso8859 versions but I guess not (not yet). I thought I could use the perl script ucstoany.pl to generate iso8859 versions from the iso10646 version. It works, as in it generates the font with all the glyphs in the right place but it doesn't seem to be working? I was trying to use the Microsoft CP1252 mapping? I think that's right. Anyway, I'll just leave it for now and keep trying. Otherwise, everything seems ok now I think. Sigh.

Re: Ohsnap I made another font (based on artwiz snap)

Each time I try to use the ISO code for this font (DWM, some_sorta_bar, WMFS) I'm told the font isn't found.  I used the examples listed in the readme file, both for the icons version and regular, and changed from normal to medium to bold; nothing works.  What am I missing?

Re: Ohsnap I made another font (based on artwiz snap)

What are you trying to do? You shouldn't need the normal part. For my .Xresources, I use either:

urxvt*font: -*-ohsnap-medium-r-*-*-11-*-*-*-*-*-*-*
urxvt*boldFont: -*-ohsnap-bold-r-*-*-11-*-*-*-*-*-*-*

or for the iso106464-1 versions:

urxvt*font: -*-ohsnapu-medium-r-*-*-11-*-*-*-*-*-*-*
urxvt*boldFont: -*-ohsnapu-bold-r-*-*-11-*-*-*-*-*-*-*

. To use the icon versions:

-*-ohsnap.icons-medium-r-*-*-11-*-*-*-*-*-*-*
-*-ohsnap.icons-bold-r-*-*-11-*-*-*-*-*-*-*

Re: Ohsnap I made another font (based on artwiz snap)

Those are all precisely what I tried, and none of them have worked.  They all return "Font '-*-ohsnap.icons-medium-r-*-*-11-*-*-*-*-*-*-*' Not Found" or some variation of that message.  I can use Xft in urxvt and it works fine, as well as in WMs that use Xft (Awesome, Subtle, etc).  DWM, Dmenu, monsterwm, WMFS, some_sorta_bar: all require the ISO code, and it doesn't work under any circumstance.

EDIT: The font doesn't appear in xfontsel, either.

Do you see the font in xfontsel?

Re: Ohsnap I made another font (based on artwiz snap)

Make sure you have something like:

xrdb -merge ~/.Xresources
xset +fp /usr/share/fonts/local
xset fp rehash

in your .xinitrc

edit:and make sure you have the latest version (1.7.8). I fu@#ed up the previous one. Sorry.

Re: Ohsnap I made another font (based on artwiz snap)

I added another size, 6x13, made a few other changes (mainly to the 7x14), cleaned up a few things and improved the README. I updated the AUR. The current version is 1.7.9. Here's a couple screenshots of the new 6x13:
tZWJybA    tZWJycA
edit: I also divided up the sizes in my configs so you can manually install just what you want if you choose to. (the source bdf files are included there too)

Re: Ohsnap I made another font (based on artwiz snap)

How do I set my conky's font to this one, I have it installed and all, but I don't know how to set it in conkyrc?

Would really be glad if I could get some help.

EDIT: Got it to work! smile Great job with the font.

Re: Ohsnap I made another font (based on artwiz snap)

I tried to do this:

printf '\xBA'

and then copy the icon to the clipboard, but when I paste it it just turns into a "?".

That's because where you pasted it doesn't use the same font. Try it in your conky and see what turns up.

I did paste it directly in my conkyrc, still a "?". I also put "'\xBA'" in my conkyrc, and no success there either. How am I supposed to paste it or write it? I use the same font at conky as in my term.

Re: Ohsnap I made another font (based on artwiz snap)

Did you run conky to see if it showed there?
Is your conky in it's own window or piped to a bar?
Have you checked in xfontsel that the font is installed properly?
I'm just guessing at things to check ...

Re: Ohsnap I made another font (based on artwiz snap)

Conky run's in its own window, I think the font installed proparly since I can use it in all my apps(conky, urxvt, luakit) and that the icons does show when I do "printf '\xBA'.
