[Not Solved] linux 3.4.0 and internal microphone issues

I'm happy with linux-ck, but since I've updated to 3.4 the internal microphone of my laptop (the webcam's) refuses to work, giving no sound or an awful noise. The snd_ modules loaded are exactly the same of a working 3.3.7 stock kernel, and I don't know if a similar problem happens with the 3.4 stock kernel as well, which is still in testing.
Has anyone had a similar issue? Can you suggest something to narrow down the problem?
I'll provide further details if needed.
Thanks

Re: [Not Solved] linux 3.4.0 and internal microphone issues

Is this true with linux 3.4-1 package in [testing] or is it unique to 3.4-1 of linux-ck?

I suspect asound.state has more of an effect than one would expect.

@graysky
I've never tried the 3.4 in [testing], so I can't say anything about it. I'm only sure the stock 3.3.7 works. I'll try one of the pre-compiled packages in your signature, to see if it works and thus figure out where my config flaws.

@brebs
It would be way stranger than the case linked in your post, since the very same installation works fine with the [core] 3.3.7, but not with the 3.4 -ck. Anyway, running alsactl store is very cheap, so it's worth giving a shot.

Re: [Not Solved] linux 3.4.0 and internal microphone issues

Neither of the previous two worked. The pre-compiled kernel has the same problem, and storing/restoring alsa state did nothing.
I also tried removing options snd-hda-intel model=ACER. I'm wondering if it's a 3.4 problem with my hardware. I will try 3.4 in [testing] and maybe file a bug, if the mic still doesn't work.

If you verify that Linux-ck is not to blame and that the bug is also present in the ARCH kernel package, please edit your first post's title to not include "Linux-ck."

Thank you.

Thank you.

I'll definitely do it, graysky. I ask to the forum admins to move the whole thread (Kernel or [testing] forums), since, bad news for me, the 3.4 in [testing] doesn't work as well. I'm filing a bug for "linux", and I'll do it upstream too.
Thanks

Ok, things are really getting weird.
Pulseaudio is breaking the microphone input (but only with 3.4), ALSA works instead - noisy as usual, but works. Closing this thread and opening a new one in multimedia.

hermes, please do not mark a thread as CLOSED. Use [ Not Solved ] or something like this instead if you want to give it up that way.
See the How to Post section of our forum rules.

Changing the mark for you and closing this thread.
