Hi, new user here. I installed SMath through the AUR. I have already used SMath in windows to solve some homework problems, where it works very well, I am impressed. However in Arch, SMath does not respond at all to some keys. My keyboard is fine, and only in SMath it appears as if there are dead keys. I am using programmer dvorak, and when switching back to normal the behavior retains the appearance that some keys are dead. I do not know if this is a problem with mono, or SMath, as it is the only mono application I have. The dead keys are:
`1345789-=]
on a normal keyboard and
$&{}(*)+!#@
in programmer dvorak.
So, I can enter numbers with the numberpad, however it is impossible to insert some characters because they're only on the dead keys. Pressing the equivalent buttons in the interface works as expected.
Any assistance in investigating the problem would be appreciated.

The number keys work fine here, both numberpad and symbols. I'm using US standard layout. I'm guessing it's something to do with your layout and/or a limitation in Mono.

Yes! I finally got SMath to behave. I had this in my xorg.conf:
Section "InputClass"
Identifier "evdev keyboard catchall"
MatchIsKeyboard "on"
MatchDevicePath "/dev/input/event*"
Driver "evdev"
Option "XkbLayout" "us"
Option "XkbVariant" "dvp"
EndSectionThis allows me to programmer dvorak in kdm. However, on a hunch I commented it out and Smath works. What irks me about this is if I change the layout after login, I can use programmer dvorak just fine. I guess I will have to live with entering my password differently. This is probably a deficiency in mono.
Well it's working better anyway, now it won't respond to the tab key...

Ugh. Never mind. It's back to near uselessness, same problem and the tab key doesn't work either. Copy/Paste does not work. The multi document interface has gone insane. And my windows version is now stuck in russian. Updating did not fix anything.
What gives ;_; I need this to do my homework

I tried to plot a matrix and this happened:
