Well, I'd just like to point out when I upgrade the kernel my network driver rtl8150 doesnt work at all... But this is really about my sound card.
I upgraded the kernel, network didnt work, so i downgraded, and yay! My sounds totally messed up. I reinstalled alsa, tried alsaconf and I've been trying so hard to get my sound blaster live card that uses snd-ca0106 working.... help!!!
Oh and I should point out.. if i type modprobe snd-pcm-oss i get this:
WARNING: Could not open '/lib/modules/18.104.22.168/kernel/sound/acore/snd.ko': No such file or directory
WARNING: Could not open '/lib/modules/22.214.171.124/kernel/sound/acore/oss/snd-mixer-oss.ko': No such file or directory

I assume you've compiled all those as modules in the kernel? And that your downgraded kernel is 18.104.22.168?
The downgraded kernel is 22.214.171.124 and I did nothing but reinstall alsa version 1.0.9b and downgrade the kernel.
Well, i made packages to get all the alsa packages up to the most recent development version, and modprobe snd-ca0106.. it works!
So.. problem fixed.
