Arch 64-bit only distro that won't recognize my USB mouse & keyboard

I've got two boxes with probably 5 different distros between them.   My 64-bit Arch install on Box 1 is the ONLY one among them that will not recognize my USB keyboard and mouse on boot.

(And by "not recognize" I mean that I am unable to move the cursor from dead-center screen, nor will any of the keys respond.)

I have to unplug and re-plug the KB & mouse and reboot.  PIA.

There IS a KVM switch involved, but I don't think that's a factor, because all the other distros don't have a problem with it.

Any thoughts on what the issue might be?

Does the keyboard work in the console?

Just a hunch, but have you xf86-input-evdev installed?

Does the keyboard work in the console?

Just a hunch, but have you xf86-input-evdev installed?

The keyboard works at the GRUB menu...other than that, it goes right to the login screen.

And, yes, I DO have xf86-input-evdev installed.  Can't tell from your question if I should, or not...  ;-)

The xf86-input-evdev package is a dependency for Xorg so it should've been pulled automatically.

If evdev does not support your device, install the needed driver from the xorg-input-drivers group.

But without a solution either. His mouse worked on an old Slackware install so it may be one of those updated packages.

Do you have an external USB drive connected to the system? If yes, disconnect the extrenal drive from its power source for about 10 seconds, then plug it back in.

My USB bus seems to become bumfuzzled from time to time, and that fixes it. It seems that sometimes the umount fails when shutting down and then everything USB goes haywire until I do the above.
