double screen resolution with nvidia driver

I'd like to cause my laptop's 1600x900 physical screen to be 1600x1800 virtually such that if I move the mouse lower, the screen automatically moves there.  Wish I knew the name of this to make my google searches more relevant.

Re: double screen resolution with nvidia driver

Does something like this work?

 Section "Screen"
         Identifier "Default Screen Section"
         Subsection "Display"
                 Depth 24
                 Virtual 1600 1800
         EndSubSection
 EndSection

(untested)

Most likely lxde is invoking xrandr upon login. If there's no easy way to stop it from doing so, you might be able to use xrandr again to restore the virtual resolution. See this command which uses the "--fb" and "--panning" flags.

Great things come in tar.xz packages.

Thanks for the advice, all.  This is turning out to be more trouble than it's worth.  I'm bailing.
