[SOLVED] Soft background noise during any audio output

I use pulseaudio and whenever music or sound was played it was underlaid by a soft, pulsating background noise, which was pretty annoying.
The solution is to invoke

alsamixer

press "F6: Select sound card" and pick "Pulseaudio". Now only one 'Master' volume control should be shown.
Play around with it. My results:
I had it at '16' first, which caused really bad background noise for me. Changed it to '25' and the noise is gone!
