Important info about repositories for radeon hd 2xxx 3xxx 4xxx
All radeon hd 2xxx 3xxx 4xxx owners please switch to the new repository:
[catalyst-hd234k]
Server = http://catalyst.apocalypsus.net/repo/catalyst-hd234k/$arch
Since i'm planning to move catalyst 12.6 into main [catalyst] repository (in ~ 1st of July 2012)
And 12.6 does not support your hardware
[catalyst-hd234k] repo would be updated when only AMD would release it's updates for your hardware.
It will also be updated when there would be such a need - like patching to support new kernel.
I'm also planning to add catalyst-lts package into this repo which will contain fglrx module for linux-lts kernel.
Please remember that you still need to use [xorg111] repo.
AUR changes
I also want to update all main AUR catalyst's packages into 12.6 version and for HD < 5xxx owners I want to create someting like catalyst-total-hd234k package with catalyst-hook + catalyst-utils + lib32-catalyst-utils inside (in this week i will create such AUR package).
I'm planning to update main catalyst pkgs into 12.6 version in ~ 1st of July 2012
catalyst-test 12.6 supports xorg-server 1.12
3.4 kernel support
All packages (except catalyst package for i686 arch), so both 12.4 and 12.6 are providing support of 3.4 kernel (through patches).
Support for i686 is done through kinda dirty way of patching kernel's header file (original version of this header is restored after building the module), and atm i don't know how to apply it into catalyst package. So catalyst 12.4 i686 users who wants to use 3.4 kernel have to use -generator or -hook or -daemon

Thank you, though 2 issues with your new repo (neither are a problem at this time, but worth fixing):
warning: catalyst-generator: local (12.4-6) is newer than catalyst-hd234k (12.4-5)
warning: opencl-headers: local (1:1.1.20110526-1) is newer than catalyst-hd234k (1.1.20110526-1)

what's the maximum kernel support for catalyst 11.5 for my HD3200?
Is there any repository containing it?
Thanks

Ahh thank you!
There's a lot of people here and there who helped me and are helping me a lot, cheers to them, cheers to you!
Edit: i've added catalyst-lts package into [catalyst-hd234k] repo. I didn't test it, but should work.

Let me guess: you are using x86_64 arch, you were using AUR and switched to the repo
It's because 12.4-6 version of generator contains update only for i686 arch so i did not updated packages in x86_64 repo, simply cuz there's no such need
warning: opencl-headers: local (1:1.1.20110526-1) is newer than catalyst-hd234k (1.1.20110526-1)
Yes, in the old days i put opencl-headers package into catalyst repo simply because the one from community (newer one) was not working...
i can see that community is now also using the same, nice, old version of opencl-headers (just versioned oddly - guess it was done to "downgrade by update"), which is working fine so i'm removing this package from the repo.

11.5 you are saying...
You probably will get some troubles with 3.0 kernel... but i think it's possible to make it work with 3.4... you just need to use some patches and time...
If you will get bored by this write an e-mail to me, be patient - i got not much time these days

Though... Why 11.5? That one is so old.

I'm sorry, obviously I meant 12.5

Obviously? There is no 12.5 and there will be no 12.5 driver at all. Next one is 12.6, last one was 12.4.

And both support kernel 3.3 "officially". 3.4 is supported too, albeit with 'dirty' patching.

the last driver that support my HD3200.

It is 12.4. Please read the Vi0l0's post about [catalyst-hd234k] repository above.

Looks like you are using the official installer, which is a terrible idea. Just don't. Use the repository or install from the AUR.

by the way on xserver 11.1 repository I was unable to install xf86-video-ati for emergency, it ask me to remove xorg-server....

Open driver conflicts with xorg-server<1.11.99.902 while Catalyst 12.4 is not compatible with xorg-server>=1.12. So you cannot have both drivers installed at the same time, not to mention the libgl conflict. Choose one of them and stick with it, there's no chance to have both of them, afaik.

If you want to have an emergency backup driver just download the archive to pacman's cache without installing
pacman -Sw xf86-video-ati
and you can install it offline when needed.

Thanks for adding the repo for hd234k people. Added and synced just fine here. Honestly the support for my 4870x2 was virtually nonexistant at first (in late 2009), but now I rarely experience any problems. As long as they can continue to support new xorg releases I'll be happy until I retire this and build a new system.

I'm sorry if i missed the thread, but I have problems with proprietary drivers for AMD 6290 GPU (inside AMD C-60 APU). I installed catalyst driver (both 12.4 and 12.6) and it was working good, but after I close my laptop lid (suspend), it won't resume (laptop is working but screen is blank). I tried every solution I could find and none of them works. Acer AO722.

What are you using to suspend? Try using pm-utils (pm-suspend); that works for me. Also, if you have just updated either Catalyst or the kernel, a suspend won't wake. You have to restart first. See here for how to setup pm-utils: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Pm-utils

linux 3.4 is in [core] repo
so i've updated catalyst package on the repo (now it's in version 12.4-5). Hope it will work, especially on i686 systems :>
(catalyst on AUR was not updated, because still for i686 i don't know how to patch kernel's header in fakeroot)

Does anyone else not get a tty on a clean reboot? Also a freeze when music is playing on Amarok after the screen powers off. These errors only occur with the Catalyst driver for me on the 6520g.
