T-shirt Designs

So, nearly a year ago I dove head first into Arch, and have never looked back (first time posting on these forums though!). I did develop the requisite geeky pride in the distro, which has manifested itself lately in these bleach shirts:

What do you think? They're stupidly simple to make, and I've received quite a few comments already ("what's that funny rat on your shirt?").

Edit: Forgot to do thumbnails instead!

Re: T-shirt Designs

What is a 'Bleach T-Shirt' ?  Is it kind of the opposite of a tie-dye?  I the original color of the shirt the pattern, and then you bleach the background?

Re: T-shirt Designs

There are a few different ways to make them---I printed out the stencil on freezer paper (wax on one side) and cut it out using a craft knife. You iron the stencil onto the shirt wax side down (so that it sticks to the cloth), and then spray the shirt with a 50/50 bleach/water solution. My younger brother gave me the idea---he says there is an entire sub-reddit devoted to stencils and techniques.

Edit: This is apparently where he got the idea

Re: T-shirt Designs

This is a really cool idea. I've been looking for a way to make nerd themed t-shirts that don't require art skills. I'm gonna have to try this. Thanks.

Re: T-shirt Designs

I like the designs, that's nice. But the background of they don't like much.

Re: T-shirt Designs

NIce designs; that looks pretty sweet, actually.  I'd never heard of this idea.  Years back I was into screenprinting--a great hobby for killing time and working with the hands, but a little too tedious and ridiculously expensive.  This looks like it might be a fun replacement.  Now if I can just drag myself away from this keyboard...
