XFCE Systray icons not transparent / white background

Up-to-date arch here with XFCE; look at this screenshot: panel.png

The same happens with all GTK themes, and I have installed / tried A LOT of them.

Does anyone else have this problem?

Okay, I found out that the bug does NOT happen with GTK3 applications (transmission, for example). Most of my programs are still gtk2 though.

Re: XFCE Systray icons not transparent / white background

Does it happen with a different panel (tint2, lxpanel, etc)?

$ pkill xfce4-panel
$ xfce4-panel &

Does this fix it?

Re: XFCE Systray icons not transparent / white background

Holy cow! Fixed after doing

$ pkill xfce4-panel
$ xfce4-panel &

the odd thing is that I've been having this problem for weeks (or months?) and I reboot daily. Maybe it was related to the theme after all, but after switching to a "working" theme I had to kill panel for the change to take fully effect?

Or restart X, preferably.

Do you have a compositor running?

Nope. I have XFWM without active compositing.
