I've searched the arch forums and it seems there are more people having problems with this update, but none seems to have reported exactly this problem.
I have two monitors (a Dell 2408WFP as the main one and a Dell U2311H as the secondary one) hooked to an nvidia card (actually I have two nvidia cards joined by a SLI bridge, but both monitors are hooked to the same card). I have them configured with TwinView and up to this update everything worked fine.
After updating nvidia to 302.17, while booting everything works fine, and the slim login screen appears spread between both screens, as it should be. However when I login into xfce my main monitor gets disabled and the desktop is shown only on the secondary monitor. If I enter nvidia-settings I see that the main monitor is set to "off".
It's not a showstopper because I can enable again the main monitor inside nvidia-settings, but it sure is annoying. I've tried running nvidia-settings as root and using the "save to X configuration file" button, but the problem persists. I also have the following commands set to automatically run on session startup, in case it's important:
nvidia-settings -a InitialPixmapPlacement=2
nvidia-settings -l
Anyone else experincing this? Anyone can tell me where to look? I've looked at the Xorg.0.log file but I'm not sure what I should be looking for there.

Try deleting your Xorg.conf (after making a copy of course)? Aren't there troubleshooting things to try from the wiki on Nvidia or Xorg? Aside from your searches what else have you tried? Try hooking one monitor up to the other card perhaps or hook both to the other card? Downgrade the drivers if all else fails.

After a few reboots the problem seems to have solved by itself. As far as I can tell I did nothing to fix it (I was waiting till the weekend to have enough time to dig into this). Weird.
Marking as solved.
