Hi, I have a clean install of arch with Xfce and slim.
I am having problems with shutdown reboot and such stuff, and i have tried all ck-lauch-session things in .xinitrc and now i see that slim 1.3.3 doens't need that.
I would like to try if upgrading slim will work, but i have no idea how to upgrade it. The package says it's suppose to be 1.3.3-5
http://www.archlinux.org/packages/?sort … =&limit=50
but my versions (after pacman -Syu and all) is still 1.3.2. How can I get the lastest package from the repository?
Thanks

?? 1.3.3-5 is in extra.
If it doesn't show up, your mirror must be out of date.
edit: to confirm, what does `pacman -Ss slim` show?

try exec startxfce4 with no ck- stuff,
and pacman -Syyu. If that doesn't help, you really need to pick another mirror, http://www.archlinux.org/mirrors/status/ will show you the ones that were recently updated

I have only let the top three mirrors in my mirrorlist (http://mirror. us, de,nl .leaseweb.net/archlinux/...) and pacmans says i have the new slim installed
$ pacman -Ss slim
extra/slim 1.3.3-5 [installed]
but this shows othervise.
$ slim -v
slim version 1.3.2
and upon pacmna Syyu i still get nothing to do ... cause it's up to date.

I am not sure what problems specifically you are having, but I have xfce with slim. Here is my xfce4 line in .xinitrc:
exec dbus-launch startxfce4 &

Thanks. It would seem that you're right, and treating my slim as a 1.3.3 without the ck-... stuff works.
I never even thought that i might have the up to date version, with a wrong number. I was just treating it as some old thing and then it didn't work.
Thanks again
