No audio

Hello, im new in here, as i am at arch. First of all, you'll have to excuseme because im really bad speaking english.
The problem is that my sound system isn't working. I tried asking at the irc channel (english and spanish) but no one could helpe, so here i am.

I installed archlinux a week ago, netinstall, on my desktop. There is no sound except the input from my mic (i can hear myself talking, you know?), i tryed blacklisting snd_intel8x0m but didn't work. Any ideas?

Here is my aplay -l output:

Re: No audio

Have you read the wiki pages related to audio? Please specify whether you're using plain alsa or pulseaudio.

If you can't get audio with Alsa, pulseaudio won't solve it. What's your DE etc.?

Re: No audio

etc = Etcetera, etcetera, etcetera!. Sorry it means "and so on".

If the sound in your mic is working, that probably means there are just certain channels muted. I would run "alsamixer", play with the channels, press F5 to see all of them and press M to mute / unmute them.

Re: No audio

Gstreamer codecs don't apply because Flash doesn't link to gstreamer. It comes with its own codecs for h.264 and sorrenson spark. But if the speaker test doesn't work, I don't think Flash will be able to produce sound either.

Re: No audio

Through a live CD, I started widh ubuntu, the sound didnt work eihter so I tried in another input (i have three pairs, it was in the same one that always worked) and then started to work properly.

It sounds dumb, but i tried it before in arch and nothing, after this i tried again and nothing, im still stucked (i tried all again, blacklist idontknowwhat for onboard intel chips, etc).

Re: No audio

here is an article that suggests replacing pulseaudio with ALSA
http://www.webupd8.org/2010/03/how-to-s … ad-of.html

so if you have both running, maybe they are causing a conflict?

Also did you add your username to the audio group?

# gpasswd -a yourusername audio

Also restart the PC after doing all this
