after udev message (boot) screen gone dark and never comes back

Hi,

I don't know if this a specific Laptop issue, but it occurs on my Aer Aspire Laptop. Archlinux is booting fine but most! the display gone black after loading the udevd during the startup and bnever returns! The boot process is still ongoing and after a short time the system is ready but there is no more output on the display. I guess the switch from the textmode interface (e.g. grub menu) to the graphics mode isn't working properly. If there is a way to stay on textmode during boot it will solve my problem. There is a standrd intel915 graphik chip working in this Laptop.

best regards,

frigg

Hi skunktrader,

no, I don't tried this before but you've got it! appending
video=SVIDEO-1:d
to the kernel line did the trick.

best regards,

You might add i915 and intel_agp in (Modules) to your /etc/mkinitcpio.conf and then mkinitcpio -p linux.

I may have to CONSOLE you about your usage of ridiculously easy graphical interfaces...
Look ma, no mouse.
