networkmanager: how long to wait till this patch hits stable?

I'm having different problems with networkmanager, for some reason it doesn't allow me to choose from the list the wireless network to connect, it just simply doesn't react to my selections.

I've tried to use the 'nmcli con' command but I'm having another problem as described here: https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/29683

Maybe both problems are related, my question is how long till the patch hits stable?

TIA.

From the bug report, it sounds like it is an upstream problem so it will probably be with the next networkmanager release from upstream.

You may want to install a different package for your networking such as Wicd. I know a lot of people use wicd, although I never have.

Re: networkmanager: how long to wait till this patch hits stable?

Any news on this issue? I am relying on an nmcli based script to bring up/down my 3G interface every 24 hrs as the carrier disables the interface at that rate ..
.. and I need a permanent 3G network ..

Thanks,
B

Do as other contributors to the bug report did - apply the patch yourself, or use the git build.

Hi there, I'm having the same problem with nmcli con, so I wish to fix it. However, being a newbie, I have no idea how to turn the fix listed here http://cgit.freedesktop.org/NetworkMana … 4822a54c6b into a working networkmanager. Could someone please explain this, e.g. what files I edit (or are some of those listed there already fixed?), what the colours mean (black=same, red=remove, green=add?), and then what to do to...??

Cheers.

Re: networkmanager: how long to wait till this patch hits stable?

In general, if you haven't done something before, the best idea is to find documentation about that thing, read it, and then try it. In this case, you want to read about the patch command. Arch's ABS repo provides numerous examples of PKGBUILDs that apply patches, so you can also look at them for guidance.

If you had actually read the Arch bug report referred to above, you would have seen that people also resolved this issue by installing networkmanager-git from the AUR, so if you can't figure out the patch stuff, try that instead.
