I use KDE and try to use the "native" apps for integration and so.... but ktorrent is giving me a hard time when trying to download magnet links (more and more common this days)
I click on a magnet link, ktorrent grabs it but never reaches the point where he adds the download itself.... like if it got stuck...
Anyone else has the same problem as me?
Thanks!!

I also face this issue and figured out that you have to configure the protocol settings correctly. Like this. If you turn off DHT - you most likely won't be able to use magnet links at all.

I have those options activated (plus some other ones)......... i didnt have the patience to wait 10 minutes and see if it finally ends up working... will try though since it has allways been pretty slow for getting the magnet links.....

Do other bittorrent clients do better with magnets?

Yes, any other one does. It's an issue with ktorrent. Deluge and transmission work pretty well

If you want to keep the native look and feel try rtorrent, it runs inside your terminal so on KDE that would be konsole, rtorrent handles magnet links by simply pasting them in from whatever clipboard your using.

Please report it upstream before switching to another client.

That was my intention : to fix things, not to leave the problem alone and look other way.... You mean like open a bug in the bug tracker?

You can see and vote the bug here: https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/30524?o … ed%5B0%5D=
Cheers, and lets use transmission for the moment.....

Upstream would be bugs.kde.org. There is a bug report about it there already: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=302152
I haven't had problems with magnet links and ktorrent myself.
