[SOLVED] Mythtv 0.25.1 upgrade - unable to watch Live TV

Today I upgraded from mythtv-1:0.25-3 ('pre') to 0.25.1, along with the updated plugins that go with it

I was instantly unable to watch live TV (other stuff worked OK). Seemed to be a tuner problem - randomly made my HVR-2210 tuners "busy" and hence unavailable - "Watch TV" kicked me back to the TV menu.

Thinking it could be a kernel problem with my Hauppauge HVR-2210 drivers (which were only in the kernel by default recently), I tried downgrading kernel (since 3.4.4-2 is new as well) to no avail. I then deleted all capture cards and basically started over in mythtv-setup, also to no avail - it scanned the channels OK, and inserted them correctly with their correct channel numbers and names and ID's, but wouldn't play them in frontend.

Finally downgraded back to 0.25-3 (leaving the 0.25.1 plugins intact) and all was well straight away (using the scanned channels and backend setup from 0.25.1). Nothing sticks out in the simple terminal feedback. Hmmmm.

Curious to know if anyone else has had similar problems here before hitting the Gossamer threads (http://www.gossamer-threads.com/lists/mythtv/)

The latest myth upgrade contains a change to default the mythtv user to 'mythtv' where previous versions defaulted to 'root'.

The fix was to set the user who should start the mythbackend process in /etc/conf.d/mythbackend ("MBE_USER='user' ")
